I am still researching Andrew & Nancy Baker (my 2nd great grandparents).

Andrew was the son of Jacob Baker & his wife Mary Stephen (also reported in some sources as "Steen") Baker.

Records indicate that Nancy was married to Andrew Baker sometime in the mid 1830's (probably in Monroe County OH), and that the couple lived most of their adult lives in Seneca Ohio.

They were the parents of at least 14 children:

unidentified male Baker
1837 – ? (before 1850)
Lydia Baker
1839 –
Matilda Baker
1841 – 1901
Elijah Baker
1843 –
Mary Baker
1845 –
Jacob Baker
1847 –
Sarah Elizabeth Baker
1850 – 1931
John Baker
1853 – 1923
HENRY BAKER (my great grandfather)
1856 – 1928
Alexander Baker
1859 – 1937
Andrew Herman Baker
1860 – 1947
Julietta Baker
1860 –
Louiza J. Baker
1863 –
Eliza Jane Baker
1865-1890

Nancy died April 25, 1899, and Andrew died some time later that year. (I am still trying to determine Andrew's actual death date).

Nancy's obituary stated, in part, "In 1835 she was married to Andrew Baker who survives her though in his ninetieth year and in feeble health. Before performing the last sad rites for the mother and wife the solemn ordinance of Christian baptism was administered to the father and husband who was unable to be raised from his bed."

Records indicate that the family attended Mt Ephraim Methodist Church, and both Andrew and Nancy are buried at the Church cemetery.
