Delmer Garfield Agee, 79, of 820 Fairway Drive, Waynesboro, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born August 5, 1927, in Charlottesville, a son of Alexander Garfield Agee and Bertha Brower Agee.
He graduated in 1950 from the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in Business Accounting. He was inducted into the Thomas Jefferson Society of Alumni. Later, he was honored to become a member of the 50 Year Club at his beloved alma mater.
Mr. Agee served his country in the U.,S. Navy during World War II. His career involved managing and working in the office-supply industry in Waynesboro. His recent employer was Augusta Office Products. Previous to that, he worked for P&M Office Specialties.
He was an avid golfer and lifelong member of the Waynesboro Country Club. Mr. Agee was a member of First Baptist Church in Waynesboro.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel Beth Agee, of Waynesboro, two sons, Del G. Agee, Jr. and his wife, Betsy, of Waynesboro, and Michael B. Agee and his wife, Diana, of Marietta, Georgia; two stepsons, Stephen E. Boling and his wife, Debbie, of Waynesboro, and David R. Boling and wife, Karen, of Concord, North Carolina; four grandsons; and four granddaughters.
A graveside service will be private. A memorial service to celebrate his wonderful life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Waynesboro. The family will receive friends in the Canada Room following.
Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church, 301 S. Wayne Ave., Waynesboro, VA 22980. McDow Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
