James R. Babcock
James R. BABCOCK, 93, native of Fulton county, died Monday at his home in Bradenton Beach, Fla., where he had resided the past 25 years.
Born in the Ebenezer neighborhood southeast of here on April 28, 1869, he was the son of George and Susanna ONSTOTT BABCOCK. Before moving to Florida he had operated a grocery and wholesale food business at Marion.
His marriage was Nov. 9, 1892, at Rochester, to Carrie BRUBAKER, who preceded him in death. The last of seven children in his family, he was a twin brother of the late Andrew BABCOCK of Rochester who died in 1954. The latter was the father of Mrs. H. J. LEASE, R.R. 1, Rochester.
Surviving are one son, Marvin C. [BABCOCK], Muncie; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Mary) LEECH, Marion, and Mrs. Del (Hildreth) SHAWLEY, Riviera Beach, Fla, and several nieces and nephews. Two children preceded him in death.
Last rites will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Martin funeral home at Dunkirk, Ind. Burial will be in the Dunkirk cemetery.
