Lifetime Tillamook resident Irene Anna Beeler passed away on Oct. 6, 2013 in Tillamook, just three days after celebrating her 101st birthday. Irene was born in Tillamook on Oct. 3, 1912 and was the first born of nine children to Gottlieb and Anna Wyss.

Irene lived her entire life in Tillamook, growing up on the Wyss family farm. She graduated from Tillamook High school in 1929 and married Joe Beeler on Nov. 19, 1935. Together they lived on the Beeler Traskview Dairy Farm where they raised their five children.

Irene enjoyed the farm life, always helping in the barn, raising chickens, cooking, sewing and quilting. She was an active 4-H leader, a member of the Tillamook Swiss Society, Rebecca Lodge and St. John's Church.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 1985; brothers Harold and Donald; sisters Violette, Arlene, Hazel and Dorothy ; son-in-law Gary and grandson Denny.

She is survived by her five children, Walter Beeler (Virginia), Ronald Beeler (Muriel), Anita Fletcher (Marion), Joyce Meyers and Nadine Chandler (David). She is also survived by two brothers, Clarence and Harvey; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren who often affectionately refer to her as "Grandma Quack."

A private interment was held at Sunset Heights Cemetery on Friday, Oct. 11. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 26 at St. John's at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Church or a charity of your choice.
