Joseph A. Agee, of Downers Grove, who was active in coal company groups in Springfield and Riverton thirty years ago, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Downers Grove.
Mr. Agee was stricken with a paralytic stroke a few months after he left this city thirty years ago and had been an invalid since then. He has 73 years old.
He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hercules Agee, members of a pioneer Riverton family.
Mr. Agee was the orginal president of the Riverton Coal Co. about forty years ago and later was president of the Springfield District Coal Mining Co.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Grubb Agee; two sons, Robert and Jesse, both of Chicago; and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Hunt, of Lincoln, Neb.; Mrs. Elizabeth Capps, of Portland, Ore.; and Mrs. Bell Cass, of Chicago.
Funeral services were in Downers Grove.
