SPRINGFIELD - Wilbur G. Adams, 78, of Springfield died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla. He was born Dec. 16, 1921, in Wingo, Ky., the son of Clarence and Ruth Yates Adams. He married Jean "Jackie" Adams; she preceded him in death in 1992. Mr. Adams was vice president of Marine Bank for 28 years, having retired in 1983. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served 3 1/2 years as a cryptographer and message center chief during the battle of Okinawa. He also was a board member of Illinois Presbyterian Home, Goodwill Industries and Thermic Refacteries. Survivors: several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Dr. John Hembruch officiating. burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery.
