Gwendolyn C. Adams was born on March 2, 1933 in Columbus, Texas to Myles and Mittie (Scott) Jones. At the age of 81, she enjoyed life to the very fullest until she went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 8th, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois. Gwendolyn attended Columbus High School, in Columbus, Texas and graduated from Feitchans High School in Springfield, Illinois. She attended Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas. She was the wife of the late Floyd Lee Adams, Sr. they wedded on January 23, 1954. She currently worked at Laidlaw as a bus monitor where she enjoyed spending time with children. She retired from St. John’s Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide after over 40 years of service in the NICU and Mother Baby Units. Gwen enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family. She attended Union Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by husband; Floyd Adams, parents; Myles and Mittie Jones, sisters: Gracie Vinson, Rosetta Gray, Vera Walker, Pearl Vinson, Lola Releford; brothers: William C. Jones, Nathan Jones, Leon Jones, Myles Jones, Jr. She is survived by her children; Debra Rasoni of Sacramento, CA, Della Adams of Springfield, IL, Deirdre Adams of Fort Worth, TX, Dottie (William)Washington of Springfield, IL, Diana Williams of Louisville, KY and Floyd Adams, Jr. of Denver, Colorado, Sister; Dorothy Ball of Springfield, IL, Brother; Myles ( Mildred)Jones Jr.,Columbus, TX, Sister-n-law; Darnice Adams of Springfield, IL, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. The Family of Gwendolyn C. Adams wishes to thank Memorial Medical Center Physicians and around the clock nursing staff, Union Baptist Church Family for their prayers and support along with a host of caring family, friends and loved ones who stood with us during this time. She will be missed greatly. Funeral services will be Monday August 18, 2014 Visitation: 10:00am-11:00am Service:11:00am-12:00pm
