She was born in Pittsford, Rutland County, Vermont, June 1809, and was nearly 80 years of age, and the last of a family of 12 children. She married Giles Alexander at the age of 17, and settled in York in 1831. They had lived together as man and wife 63 years. She was the mother of 13 children, only five of whom survived her and were all at the funeral. She was a consistent and Exemplary Member of the Congregation Church, being one of the first members of the church when it was first formed. She was truly one of the pioneers of York Township, and went through all the hardships incident to pioneer life. She was truly loved by all for her many esteemed noble traits of kindness. May our Heavenly Father, who watches over us, bring comfort to those who mourn and especially to the aged companion who is left alone.
