Rose was born Blanche Thibodeau on June 26, 1907 to Placide Thibodeau and Marie Parent. Rose's mother passed away just 4 days later due to complications. We know that she stayed with her father until she was at least 7 years old. It is believed that soon after her mother's death her father moved them back to Canada to live with family. In July of 1914 he brought her back to Grand Isle, ME and there he married Sophie Chabre in 1915. Rose's father Placide passed away in 1919 and then we believe she returned to Canada to family. It is not known at what age she returned or who she lived with. At this time, Rose was known as "Mary" to family in Canada and Maine. Not until she was living in Montana did we know she was known as Rose Marie Thibodeau.
