MISHAWAKA -- Roberta F. Anderson, 84, of Crystal Lake, IL, formerly of Mishawaka, IN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2007, in the home of her daughter, Margaret Bly.

She was born on December 26, 1922, in South Bend, to the late Robert and Margaret (Emrich) Fleming. On January 17, 1948, in Chicago, she married George Anderson, who died March 14, 2004, after 56 years of marriage. Roberta was also preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Anderson on April 2, 2004, and her sister, Jeanette Thomas.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Margaret Bly (Steve) of Cary, IL; sons, Robert C. Anderson (Jane Poorman) of Lake Mary, FL, and George Anderson Jr. (Kristina Kuespert) of Granger, IN; seven grandchildren, Sarah and Katelyn Anderson, Megan and Jason Bly, Dawn Rueblin (Brian), Amanda and Michelle Anderson; a sister, Elizabeth Runkle of CA; and sisters-in-law, Virginia Wood of Pompano, FL, and Gertrude Anderson of Aurora, IL.

Mrs. Anderson graduated from the former South Bend Central High School and later graduated in the first class of I.U.S.B. with a teaching degree and taught 4th grade at St. Anthony De Padua Catholic School for 10 years. She was a veteran of the Woman's Army Corps during WWII and was discharged February 10, 1946. She was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in South Bend.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2007, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Pastor Karen Brugler officiating, and burial will be at Highland Cemetery.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 606 Portter Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016; or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.

Roberta was a loving wife to George and loved her children and grandchildren, and provided them with purpose and values which will be cherished for their lifetime. She loved nature and gardening. Her memories will not be forgotten.
