ONA — Edna Virginia Lamb Evans, 94, of Ona, formerly of Oceana, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010, at the Teays Valley Hospital, Hurricane, WV.

Born January 16, 1916, at Crany, she was the daughter of the late William Johnson Lamb and Mahala Catherine Gunnoe Lamb.

Edna was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County, a member of Toneda Baptist Church, served as Sunday School Teacher, Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie Scout Leader, a member of the Oceana High School Band Boosters and the American Baptist Women of Toneda Baptist Church. She was active in quilting, various forms of handcraft besides being an excellent wife and Mother. She was united in marriage on April 28, 1934, to John Slater Evans of Glen Rogers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Evans; six brothers, Darrell Lamb, Drexel Lamb, Roby Lamb, Ithel Lamb, the Rev. Orville Lamb, and Woodrow Lamb; two sisters, Violet Lamb and Vera Lester; four half brothers, Burke Lamb, Don Lamb, Homer Gunnoe and Oke Lamb; and two half sisters, Bessie Rose and Clara Kennedy.

Survivors include her son, Larry Evans and wife Karen of Ona.

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Edna's life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010, at the Toneda Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Hamrick and Rev. Jerry T. Cook officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Evans Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
