James Weeks Woods was known as "J. W." Or "Weeks". Weeks was married to Sammie "Eunice" Simpson on October 11, 1941. They had one son, Jimmy Ray Woods and they had a daughter named Pearl that was stillborn. Weeks and Eunice adopted a beautiful baby girl and named her Paula Sue Woods.

Weeks also had a real wooden peg leg.

J. W. Weeks Woods, 60, laundry operator, died Wednesday at Methodist Hospital at Dallas. Services will be at 2 p.m. at Adams Arbor Church of God near Charleston with burial in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery at Charleston.

He leaves his wife, Sammie E. Woods of Dallas; a son, Jimmy Woods of Dallas; a daughter, Paula S. Woods of Dallas; three brothers, Jimmy Woods of Charleston, Dave Woods of Bogue Chitto and Sam Woods of Dallas, and two sisters, Mrs. Claudie Roberson of Charleston and Mrs. Sadie Childress of Wilson, AR.
