James P.Mahoney was the son of Irish immigrant John P.Mahoney and Ellen Fogarty(born in Pottsville, Penna.).He married Marion Catherine Barry in Philadelphia sometime after 1910. He was the Head Plumber at the Reynolds Tobacco plantation in North Carolina during its heyday in the 1920s till he died in 1945. He wife Marion Barry from Philadelphia passed away at 41 yrs old due to complications from Multiple Sclerosis .They had one daughter together a Mary or Marion born in 1923. His second wife was Flora Smith Dorse from North Carolina,they had no children that we know of. James is buried with his family in Salem cemetery in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The painting in the Photos Section is called "The Plumbers Cottage at Reynolda" by Diana Kelly. James Mahoney was the chief plumber for the R. J. Reynolds estate "Reynolda".
