Served in the Civil War, 176th NY Volunteer Infantry, Company H. He was married to Elizabeth Wright and they had five children. They lived mostly in Cleveland Ohio. In 1900, he entered the Old Soldiers and Sailors Home in Sandusky Ohio where he worked as a telephone operator as well as a kitchen and dining room worker. He lived there until his death in 1920.
