Longtime area resident Clifford Canaday, 90, of Centralia died Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Sharon Care Center in Centralia. He was born Jan. 29, 1907, to Arthur Henry and Hildah Adelaide (Gatenby) Canaday at Neligh, Nebraska, where he recieved his early education. He worked as a bakery salesman for many years. He also co-owned the Morton Convalescent Hospital for several years before his retirement. He lived in Rochester for 20 years until returning in 1984 to Lewis County, where he had lived until his death. He was a member of the Centralia Seventh-Day Adventist Church and of the American Association of Retired Persons. He enjoyed traveling and had traveled extensively overseas, including in Korea and the Holy Land. He was an avid rockhound and enjoyed polishing rocks and gems. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Addice Patrick in 1968, and by his second wife Marsha in 1989. He is survived by a son, Al Canaday of Centralia, and a sister, Dorothy Jensen of Campbell, California. Memorials may be donations to the Centralia Seventh-Day Adventist church fund.
