Charles Henry had an earlier wife, Ada Seal Ainge. They immigrated from England and lived in Atlantic City New Jersey. He was a well respected detective. They had three children, including my grandmother, Maud Louise Ainge. One day in 1898 or 1899, Charles Henry did not return home after work. He never returned home. Ada Seal Ainge returned to the Birmingham, England area, with her three children. She worked as a seamstress, which was about the lowest occupation available. Maud Ainge grew up to marry Harry Edgar Woodcock. They had three children, two daughters and a son, my father, Wallace George Woodcock. My dad shared a bed with Ada, Charles' wife, until she died. When Ada died, my father discovered she had been sending money to Pinkerton Detectives, all her life, in a futile effort to find Charles Henry Ainge. Ada, my grandmother and my father tried to track down Charles Ainge. They suspected he had been shot and his body dumped, while working as a detective.

Dr Sir,
I beg to ask your excellency for position to look up Spanish Spies in Florida. There are no doubt many in this Country this is Spains means of warfare barbarism destruction of life and property - Enclosed please find my history and references. I have filed a bond of $5000 here to act as a State Detective but there is nothing much to do in this State. I have been Employed in the English Detective Service and can Easy detect Suspicious Characters
I trust your Excellency can offer me employment to detect any Inhuman Spanish Spies that may be plotting to destroy life and property in Florida. If you cannot offer me position Kindly return my history. I can furnish you any letters of recommendation you may require.
