L. D. Akin ("Eldee") was the son of Robert W. and Daisy Vandruff Akin, and was born in Chautauqua Kansas. He was married first to Vernie L. Hutchinson and they had two sons, Robert Grant Akin of Oklahoma City, who survives, and Roland Maurice Akin, who died in 1954. He was married second to Fern M. Binkley who survives.
