Jerome - Edward M. Gregg, 86, died Saturday morning at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Patterson, route 3, Jerome.
He was born May 31, 1882, in Bluffton, Ind. He worked as a railroad engineer at Arlington, Wash. He married Evelyn Montgomery on July 6, 1904, in Everett, Wash. They came to Idaho in 1906 and worked with a survey crew, laying out the canal system in Jerome County. In 1908 he homesteaded south of Jerome and moved his family in 1909.
He farmed there until 1942 when he moved to Twin Falls where he worked with the Twin Falls Canal Co., operating a well – drilling outfit. He retired in 1956 and they spent their winters in Arizona until Mrs. Gregg's death in 1966.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and a Charter member of the Canyonside Grange.
He is survived by three daughter, Mrs. Dorothy McKean, Twin Falls; Mrs. M. D. (Gladys) Patterson, Jerome; and Mrs. Ardis Griswold, Jacksonville, Florida.; a son, Harold E. Gregg, Jerome; a sister, Mrs. Clare Paxon, Bluffton, Ind., 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Gerald Gregg in 1942.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday in the Hove Funeral Chapel by Rev. John N. Garrabrandt. Final rites will be held in the Jerome Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel Sunday evening, Monday and until 10 A.M. Tuesday.
