Llora Lurey Louisa "Louecy" Kester, b. Aug. 27, 1848 at Wyandot County, Ohio, the youngest child of Jonathan L. Kester and Sarah Lundy Shotwell, latter longstanding members of the Society of Friends, or Quakers.

Louisa, the name she is enumerated with in multiple censuses, was only 14 years old when both of her parents died. She subsequenly lived with older siblings particularly the family of eldest sister Elizabeth (Kester) Wilson at Pontiac, Michigan.

At age 40, Louisa m. Mar. 19, 1889 at Pontiac, Michigan, Egbert Champlin, b. Feb. 12, 1846 at Glens Falls, NY, son of George D. Champlin and Esther Ann Sisson. Egbert left Glen Falls prior to June 1880 and was employed as a printer at Pontiac, eventually owning his own print shop at Pontiac. They had no children with Louisa dying at Pontiac Feb. 9, 1902.

Per her official Michigan death certificate, Louisa's husband Egbert reported that she was born Aug. 27, 1849, but a DAR transcription of Oak Hill Cemetery where she is interred read Louisa's actual gravestone stating she was b. Aug. 27, 1848. In the 1850 census of her parental family at Wyandot County, OH Louisa was twice enumerated by the same enumerator (first in July 1850 at Sycamore Twp, then again in Oct. 1850 at Eden Twp). In both she is stated to have been 2 years old. She was enumerated as age 22 on Aug. 18, 1870 as a member of her sister Elizabeth (Kester) Wilson's household at Pontiac, MI. She was last enumerated as a single person on June 24, 1880 at Pontiac, MI, age 31. On June 2, 1900 at Pontiac she was enumerated with her husband with a stated date of birth of Aug. 1848, age 51. Thus, her official death certificate is incorrect regarding the date of her birth.

The above data from research by the memorialist supplimented by details provided by Robert Champlin.
