Gilbert L. Ballinger, 77, of Morning View, died Thursday at his home. He was a retired mechanic for French Bauer Dairy.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrud Ballinger; daughters, Joyce Wacksman and Glenda Deatherage, both of Largo, Fla., Doris Dreher of Clearwater, Fla., and Shirley Newspickle of Claryville; sons, Richard Ballinger of Covington, Wayne Ballinger of Latonia, and Ronnie Ballinger of Visalia; stepsons, Rudy Garner of Independence, Dan Garner of Ryland Heights and Joey Garner of Walton; sisters, Alice Pitcher and Loretta Finke, both of Florence, and Emma Cambell of Walton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Chamber & Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
