SOLDIER REMEMBERED AS A GO-GETTER - 100 MOURN WOMAN KILLED IN KUWAIT

More than 100 people, including high school friends and fellow servicemen and women, gathered Thursday to mourn a Boynton Beach woman killed in Kuwait last month.
Candace Moriah Daniel , a private first class with the Army's 92nd Military Police Company, died April 30 when the truck she was driving overturned after she swerved to avoid an artillery crater in a desert road. Two other soldiers in the truck were injured.
Daniel , 20, has changed her uniform to fight in God's army, said the Rev. Marquenton Huffman, who presided over the service. Huffman thanked the 35 members of the military who attended: an honor detail from the 24th Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Ga., and 18 National Guard members from the 743rd Combat Support Maintenance Company in Fort Lauderdale.
Terrence Hunt, Daniel 's boyfriend before she went to the Persian Gulf, cried during the service at Greater Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Riviera Beach. Hunt said he had received a letter from Daniel two weeks ago, describing all the things she wanted to do when she got home.
Daniel 's sister Edwina, 18, sagged to the ground sobbing after putting her flower on the casket at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens cemetery in West Palm Beach.
Afterward, she said her fondest memory of her sister was the "Back to School Jam" concert in June 1989, when they went to Miami see Heavy D and the Boyz.
"We dressed alike," Edwina Daniel said. "We got our hair done. We spent over $200 on our outfits."
Three of Daniel 's schoolmates from Forest Hill High School remembered her as outgoing and funny. Daniel was a giving person who was active in track, basketball and band during high school, they said. Yolanda Adams, 19, said Daniel was a go-getter who was really excited about serving in the military police.
"I know she is gone, but I don't want to accept it," said Daniel 's grandfather Alphonso Stubbs. He said he and Daniel 's mother had offered to pay for Daniel 's college education, but Daniel wanted to go into the Army so she could pay for it herself.
"She was the type of person who wants to do something on her own," Stubbs said.
"This is her celebration," said Daniel 's mother, Vicky Daniel . "This is her homecoming. We could not give it to her in life. I thank all of those who were able to celebrate it in death."
