OBITUARY: Date and newspaper unknown

Harold A. Ahlgrim, 71, Vermillion, died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls after a brief illness. Mr. Ahlgrim was born June 15, 1927 in Vermillion to Ellery and Evelyn (Walz) Ahlgrim. He attended Centerville School, Bloomingdale Rural School and Vermillion grade schools.

He spent his life in the Vermillion area and was the owner and operator of Ahlgrim Trucking Co. for over 50 years and also operated a repair shop.

Mr. Ahlgrim served in the U.S. Army during World War II for 14 months. He married Jean Ficken on Oct. 15, 1944 at South Sioux City, NE.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sons Richard Harold and Jeffery Scott Ahlgrim; and a brother, Howard Keith Ahlgrim.
Survivors include: his wife, Jean, Vermillion; daughters Sharon Ahlgrim-McNamara, Stony Creek, CT, Eleriann and her husband Mick Odens, Vermillion; a sister, Charlotte Erickson, Yankton; grandchildren Amy McNamara-Higgens, Christopher Vonsik, Jacob Andrew Odens and Rachel Odens; and a great-grandson, Cole Vonsik.

Funeral services were held Sept. 8 at United Methodist Church of Vermillion, with the Rev. Stephen Perry officiating, with burial in BluffView Cemetery. Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
