Jean Evelyn Ahlgrim, 83, of Vermillion died on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Yankton Care Center.

Jean was born on February 14, 1926 in Vermillion to Clifford and Doris (Ester) Ficken. She married Harold Ahlgrim on October 15, 1944 and spent the rest of her life taking care of her family. He died September 4, 1998.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon McNamara of Stoney Creek, C.T. and Eleri Ann (Mick) Odens of Vermillion; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by her sisters, Arlys (Charles) Rapp of San Diego C.A., and Bettilou (Ray) Hyde of Louisville, K.Y., her brothers, Verne Ficken of Tokyo, Japan, and Dallas Ficken of Raytown, M.O; Brothers-in-Law & Sisters-in-Law, Dutch (Charlotte) Erickson, and Carolyn and Katie Ficken.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford & Doris (Ester) Ficken, her husband, Harold Ahlgrim, her two sons, Richard & Jeffry Ahlgrim, her sister, Mildred Thompson, and her two brothers, Glenn & Dale Ficken.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday March 21st, 2009 at United Methodist Church in Vermillion with the Reverend Brook McBride officiating.

Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion.
