E. A. "Jinx" Brais - Retired Assistant Fire Chief:

E. A. "Jinx" Brais was born July 25, 1922 in McCleary, Washington, and passed away June 7, 1996, in Tacoma, after a courageous battle with cancer. "Jinx" served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and was recalled during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, he came back to Tacoma, where he served his community as a member of the Tacoma Fire Dept. for 32 years of distinguished service, retiring as Assistant Fire Chief. He was a volunteer at American Lake Veterans' Hospital and was a member of the Elks Lodge #174, Ray C. Roberts VFW, and the U. S. S. Helena Association. He is preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Gene. Survivors include, his loving wife of 45 years, Donna; son, Jerry (Jeanie) and their children, Jimmy II, Crystal, and Laura; daughter, Cyndi (Dave) Harkness and their children, Kimberly and Kellen. Memorial services will be Wednesday, June 12, 1996, at 12 Noon, in the Mt. View Valley Chapel. Reception following at the Tacoma Fire Fighters' Hall at 1109 S. 50th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1551 Broadway, Tacoma, 98402 or Fire Fighters' Burn Center, 1717 S. J St., Tacoma, 98405.
