Susannah Rice was born 16 Sep 1833, in Knox county near Galion, Ohio, USA, and was the youngest of ten children, five sons and five daughters, born to George Rice and Sarah Longsworth. George Rice was a native of Pennsylvania, USA and Sarah Longsworth was a native of Maryland, USA. Susannah Rice's father died when she was ten years of age. She came with her widowed mother and two brothers, Oliver and Thomas Rice in Nov 1848 and settled on the Rice farm in Jefferson Township, Noble, Indiana, USA, where she was married to Christopher Stout by Rev. Serge Walker. The day following her wedding, she came with her husband on horseback to her new home and lived there until Nov 1901 (two years after her husband's death). She moved to Kendallville, Noble, Indiana, USA with her daughter Mina E. Stout where she lived until her death at her home on Vine St. at the age of 78 years. She had been ill but a short time over a week and her death was due to a complication of diseases. She resided in Jefferson Township, Noble, Indiana, USA, southwest of Kendallville, Noble, Indiana, USA for 47 years and for the last ten years of her life at the Vine St. home. She was united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in girlhood and was a member of M. E. Church at Kendallville, Noble, Indiana, USA during her residence there. She is buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Noble, Indiana, USA.
