Ellis James Long, 86, a native of Mobile and a resident of Perdido, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at his residence. He retired from Pensacola Naval Air Station; and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Thursia W. Long of Perdido; daughter; Bettie (Gayland) G. Gillikin of Bay Minette; sister, Iva V. Paul of Perdido; and two grandsons, Chip Gillikin and Jason (Ryan) Gillikin, both of Bay Minette.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 at Norris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Peacock and the Rev. Angleo Thomley officiating. Burial will follow at Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Bryars-McGill Cemetery Fund or to the Splinterhill Church Food Ministry, c/o Thursia W. Long, 54633 County Road 47 South Extension, Perdido, AL 36562. Arrangements are by Norris Funeral Home, Bay Minette.
