The son of John W. Blair and Edna Viola Sowders, Jerry served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a sergeant first class when he received his discharge from the service.

After the war, Jerry married (Living) Moses on 06 Feb 1954 in Midway, Illinois. He was the father of 4 children.

Jerry worked as a switchman conductor for Illinois Terminal for 32 years. He retired in 1987.

He belonged to the Wood River VFW Post 2859 and was a member of the Wanda Cemetery Board at one time. He was a member of U.T.U.

Jerry died at his home at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 29 days. He was survived by his wife; his father; 1 daughter and son-in-law; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law; and 4 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Westerhold; and 1 son, Gary D. Blair.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on 18 Dec 2000 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, Illinois. Committal services were conducted graveside at 11 a.m. the following morning.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois in Belleville.
