Otho married Sarah "Etta" Inman on 21 Sep 1899 in Calhoun County, Illinois. During the early years of their marriage, the Brashears lived with Otho's parents in St. Louis. They did not have any children.
Otho and his brother, Luther, both went into the riverboat business. Otho was a steamboat mate and his brother was a pilot.
After that, Otho went into the saloon business with his dad and became a part-owner of his father's establishment. He took a job as a soft drink salesman.
Otho died of a heart ailment at a St. Louis sanitarium. At the time of his death, he was 61 years, 7 months and 17 days old. He was buried on 30 Oct 1925 and was survived by his wife, Etta, who passed away in 1943.
