ARTHUR BORGER

Arthur Melvin Borger, 85, of Granite city, passed from this life Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Arthur was born on October 9, 1925, in Granite city, to Robert and Edith (McCracken) Borger.
Arthur was a teamster and enjoyed his 40 years of truck driving, retiring from Granite City Motor Express. He was a member of Crosspoint Baptist Church in South Roxana and Masonic Lodge #835. Art will be remembered for the love and special times with his family and his favorite hobby, woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marie (Oliver) Borger, whom he married on March 4, 1944; son, Scott (Margie) Borger of St. Louis; two daughters, Gwenda (Terry) Pitchford of Waterloo, Illinois, Phyllis (Dennis) Pereira of Greely, Colorado; sister, Imogene Warren of Glen Carbon; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gerald and Morris Borger, and a sister, Roberta Corey.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 26, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City. A celebration of his life will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, December 27, with the Rev. Richard Clouse and the Rev. Ken Clark officiating. Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
