He worked with his father at the Bragg Food Mart in La Plata and in road construction after high school. He owned a trucking business before entering a management career in 1960. Larry managed grain elevators in Ewing, Sumner, and Kirksville, MO, and in Lineville, Leon, and Humeston, IA. He retired from MFA, Inc., in 1998. After retirement he enjoyed driving part-time for Bangert Trucking of La Plata.
---Larry had a lifelong passion for horses, which was surpassed only by his love of his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed introducing the youngest members of his family to horses as soon as they could sit atop the saddle, and those memories will be among the most cherished for all of them.
---Larry enjoyed traveling with Martha, and he never lost his love of driving. They spent many hours on the road to be with their large family.
---Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at Travis Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MO. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
