---Ruth L. Bailey, age 87, of La Plata, Missouri passed away Tuesday (April 4, 2006) at the La Plata Nursing Home.
---Born May 11, 1918 near Gifford, Missouri she was the daughter of George Edward and Mary Edith (Shumaker) Buck. On October 8, 1934 in Gifford, Missouri she married Joe Bailey, who preceded her in death on September 3, 1995.
---Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Kenneth Buck and Leon "Neg" Buck.
---She is survived by three nephews, Larry Buck of South Wilmington, Illinois, Raymond Buck of La Plata, Missouri and George Buck of Mason City, Illinois; one niece, Mary Ruth Gilliland of La Plata, Missouri; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
---Ruth lived in the La Plata area all of her life. She had previously been employed at McGraw-Edison in Kirksville, Missouri and later with the city of La Plata as a dispatcher. She was a member of the La Plata Baptist Church.
---Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (April 8, 2006) at the Travis Funeral Chapel, La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Elmer McCully. Music will be provided by organist, Sara Beth Fouch and soloist, Melvin Bissey. Musical selection will be "I Won't Have To Cross Jordan Alone".
---Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery, La Plata, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Raymond Buck, Larry Buck, Kevin Buck, George Buck, Birdie Buck and Ron Robinson.
---Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (April 8, 2006) at the Travis Funeral Chapel, La Plata, Missouri.
