GEORGE W. RANSOM
PIONEER OF WILSON
DIED AT SCHENECTADY
George W. Ransom, one of the pioneers of the town of Wilson died Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the residence of his son, Dr. Chas. C. Ransom, at Schenectady, N.Y., at the ripe age of 82. Mr. Ransom was born at Wartsboro, N.Y., and removed to Wilson at the age of five. He was educated in Wilson academy and in later life filled many offices of trust. Was justice of the peace of town for many years.
He was a devoted christian and active in works of benevolence. His funeral was held at Wilson, Sept. 8th. Burial in Greenwood cemetery. His surviving children are Dr. Chas. C. Ransom, Schenectady, N.Y., Mrs. Chas. Lewis, Geneva, N.Y., Mrs. D. E. Mona, Pittsfield, Mass., and two granddaughters, Alice Humphrey, San Francisco, Cal., Wm. Metcalf of Alden, N.Y.
