"August 26, 1945 - September 19, 2011

"Lawrence R. Andrews, age 66, a resident of Wilson, NY, entered into rest late Monday, September 19, 2011, at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane, with his family by his side. Born in Lockport on August 26, 1945, he was the son of Harry Franklin and Winifred 'Kate' (Wheeler) Andrews and was raised in Barker, NY.

"Most beloved husband of * * * to whom he was wed on November 20, 1971. Lawrence is survived by his three children, * * *.

"The greatest joy in his life was his family and providing for them. A strong, proud and compassionate man, he was there for anyone that needed him at all times. Lawrence was a member of Exley United Methodist Church in Wilson, the Wilson Lions Club, Charlotteville Masonic Lodge No. 73 in Newfane, and volunteer for the Wilson Historical Society. He enjoyed reading the daily newspapers, watching sporting events, working outdoors, and spending time with his wife and children.

"Lawrence was an in-country Vietnam veteran. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1969-1971 attaining the rank of SGT. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Metal, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal W/2 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry W/Palm, Vietnam Civil Actions Medal W/OLC. Upon his return from service, Lawrence and * * * operated two small businesses, The Tasty Freeze in Lockport and Pekin Market in Sanborn. He also worked for over 23 years at Akzo Nobel Chemical in Newfane.

"In addition to his children, he is also survived by his three beloved grandchildren, * * *; his three siblings, brother, * * *, sister * * *, and brother, * * *, and predeceased by his brother, Harry 'Butch' Andrews.

"Friends may call on Thursday, September 22nd from 3-8 PM at the Hamilton & Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, in Wilson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23rd, at 1:00 PM, at Exley United Methodist Church, 338 Lake Street, Wilson, with Reverend John Loeser officiating. Memorials to the Wilson Lions Club, Wilson Historical Society or Exley United Methodist Church will be greatly appreciated."
