At sea, April 16, John Crawford of Belmont aged 30 years 9 months, Mr. Crawford was merchant resident of Belmont, universally respected for his excellent qualities as a citizen and a man, as well as for his uprightness and probaty in business transactions, During the autumn he sought relief from the insidious disease consumption, in the milder airs of Cuba. But no permanent cure was expected and he died on the passage home. The Republican Journal May 9, 1856
