Joseph C. Alexander was born in Thomasville GA to Joseph and Sarah Peeks Alexander. The family relocated to Long Island NY and Joseph attended Nassau county schools in Hempstead and Roosevelt. He was employed until retirement by the New York Department of Sanitation. In 1960, Joseph joined St. Paul Lodge #4, under Most Worshipful Hiram Grand Lodge and received his 33rd Degree in 1976. He joined the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Pride of Jamaica Lodge #217 in 1966 and held many distinguished positions including Past State President and Treasurer Emeritus. Joseph was a devoted husband to Catherine Alexander, whom passed away in 1998, and Mildred Jamison Alexander.
