UPDATE: May 27, 2020 - Forrest Cemetery burial records being updated and the cemetery has no record of a burial for this person. Of course, the record was so long ago and if there was no inscribed grave marker - surveys of the cemetery would not indicate his name.

There is a notation on the photo stating marker: McDuffie with no other inscription believed to be the grave of Norman Henry McDuffie, Sr.

Norman Henry McDuffie married:
(1) Tabitha Carnes, daughter of John Carnes
(2) Julia Flack or Flank, widow of Mr. Hughes
(3) Mary E. Chandler, previously married to D.W.W. Chandler
.....Mary E. is referred to as Eadie.

Alabama census 1850 and 1860 enumerates Norman Henry McDuffie and wife, Tabitha. Others in the household. A child, William, death record indicates his parents as John and Matilda McDuffie, so apparently his father is one of the household members. Tabitha has no children listed on the census records.

The 1870 Etowah Co., AL census: N.H. and Julia McDuffie with their son, Henry, Jr. and her children, Bert, Lula, Katy and Willie Hughes. Julia is also the mother of John Flack McDuffie., born 1873. Julia died sometime after 1873 and before 1879 when Norman Henry, Sr. remarried. The death certificate for Katy Hughes Price shows father, Alfred Hughes.
