CUMBERLAND,MARYLAND -- Edna Irene Brotemarkle, 55, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at her residence.

Born Aug. 8, 1945, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late James Leslie and Rebecca Irene (Long) Brotemarkle.

Miss Brotemarkle was a retired word processor for the Allegany County Health Department. She was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served from 1964 to 1968. She was a member of the American Legion Fort Cumberland Post #13.

Surviving are one brother, James L. Brotemarkle Jr., Cumberland; two sisters, Diana E. Kifer and Ellen G. Brotemarkle, both of Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone, Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bernadette M. Ross officiating. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Allegany County Animal Welfare Society, Furnace Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.
