On Sunday, a brother of Clifford Hemphill, West Chester, died in Municipal Hospital, of Philadelphia. Wm. C. Hemphill to whom we refer was formerly a resident of West Chester and was well known here. The body will be brought here for interment.

In Philadelphia, on July 17th, William Coleman Hemphill, in the 52nd year of his
age. Funeral from the residence of Mrs. Elizabeth Hemphill, South Church Street, this (Wednesday) evening at 5 p.m. Interment private.

Brought Home- The remains of Wm. C. Hemphill were brought to West Chester on Tuesday afternoon and conveyed to the residence of Mrs. Elizabeth A. Hemphill,
South Church Street, where the funeral will take place.

Married: 28 Feb 1856 in Chester County, Pennsylvania

Private William C. Hemphill, a livery keeper from West Chester; enlisted at the
age of 27 on Oct. 15, 1861, for 3 yrs. In Company H, 97th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was transferred to the regimental band on Oct. 24, 1861 where he
served as a baritone until discharged by General Order # 91, War Dept, on Aug. 31, 1862.
