BLOOMINGTON — John R. Bean Sr., 68, of Bloomington, died Friday, August 9, 2002, at Bloomington Hospital.
He was born May 31, 1934, in Spencer, IN, the son of Raymond C. and Laura L. (Cassida) Bean.
He was a retired employee of ABB/Westinghouse in Bloomington and also from the U.S. Air Force Reserve, having served active duty with the Air Force during the Vietnam War, retiring in 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Helton of Indianapolis, and Laura Martin of Reynolds Station, KY; one son, John R. Bean Jr. of Springville; one brother, Alan Bean; one grandson, Jason Brinegar of Bloomington; and his companion and caregiver, Ruthann Crandall of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet L. Bean, in 1990, and one brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2002, at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Pearson officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, where the Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. today and one hour preceding the services on Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
