Funeral services for John Lewandowski were held from the St. Francis church at Ashton Tuesday morning and interment was in St. Francis cemetery.

John Lewandowski was born in Poland on December 7, 1847, and died in Loup City on June 20, at the age of 89 years and six months. He was united in marriage to Anna Woitaszewski in 1872 and they came to the United States in 1880, homesteading on a farm known as Turkey Creek, south of Ashton in 1881. Later they moved to a place of their own, and in 1906 moved to Ashton.

To this union nine children were born, three preceding him in death. His wife died December 25, 1932. He leaves to mourn his death three sons and three daughters, S.D. of Loup City, Lucy Pilkowski of Genoa, Mary Kosmicki of Loup City, Vernie Lubash of Loup City, Thomas L. of Ashton, and X.A. of Ashton, and two brothers and one sister, Wm. of Loup City, Stanley of Farwell, and Mrs. Frank Woitaszewski of Ashton. He leaves 33 grand children and 60 great grandchildren.

Since the death of his wife, Mr. Lewandowski had been making his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Kosmicki of Loup City.
