Peter is the son of Claus Jacob Claussen and Antje Katharina Carstens. He immigrated to the US in 1880 and married Wilhelmenia Julia Breservitz on 13 Mar 1886. They had 6 known children, all born in Nebraska: Henry F (1887). Charles B (1888), John (1889), Edward B (1893), Rudolph (1895) and Mary A (1898).

OLD SETTLER OF HOLT DIES AT AGE OF 82
LAST RESPECTS PAID PETER JACOB CLAUSSEN IN ONE OF LARGEST FUNERALS HELD HERE

At one of the largest funerala held in Atkinson in recent years, citizens of Holt County paid their last respects to Peter Jacob Claussen, 82 year old settler who passed away at his farm home ten miles east of here Saturday, March 23. The services were held Tuesday, March 26 with a short service at the home followed by rites at St John's Lutheran Church, Atkinson. Services were conducted in German and English.

Peter Jacob Claussen was born at Marne, Holstein, Germany on Nov 28,1852 and died at his home ten miles east of Atkinson on March 23,1935, aged 82 years, 3 months and 25 days.

In 1873 he came to America, settling at Hickman, Nebr,. In Lancaster County on March 13,1886 he was married to Miss Wilhelmine Bresewitz. Shortly after their marriage they left Lancaster County in a covered wagon and came to Holt County, settling on a farm ten miles east of Atkinson, which has been their home since.

To this union 13 children: were born, of whom 8 are living. Mr Claussen leaves to mourn his death his beloved widow, 7 sons, 1 daughter and 8 grandchildren. The children: are Henry of Fremont; Charles at home; John of O'Neill; William of O'Neill; Edward of Atkinson; Rudolph at home; Otto of O'Neill and Marie at home. He also leaves two brothers in Iowa, a sister in Wayne, Nebr. and one brother at Ainsworth.

Mr Claussen was a lifelong member of Lutheran Church. His six sons, Charles, John, William, Edward, Rudolph, and Otto served as pallbearers. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Atkinson.
