Miss Alice Romig was one of ten children born to the Rev. William Harvey and Cecilia Adele Bigler Romig. Rev. Romig was a Moravian Home Minister who traveled in the midwest. He retired in Iowa in 1915 and died in 1916. After his death, Cecilia moved her large brood to Madison, WI to finish raising the youngest.

On 3 October 1916, Alice married John Frederick Schultze in Poweshiek, Grinnell, IA. The couple had two children.

John died and Alice remarried to Dr. Harrison Edward Farnsworth on 27 August 1960. Being a mature couple, they had no children. They lived for a time in Providence, RI.
