Eugene R. Baumann died on Thursday, May 16, 1996, at Willows Nursing Home in Sun Prairie. He was born on November 24, 1924, in Watertown and was the son of Edward and Martha (Erdman) Baumann. He married Phyllis Krueger on June 29, 1946, at St. John Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Gene farmed in Waterloo for five years and then worked for 35 years at Dairy Equipment Company of Madison until his retirement in 1989. He lived in Cottage Grove until 1985 before moving to Sun Prairie. Survivors include his wife; four children, Kenneth (Murphy) Baumann of Reedsburg, Deborah (Marvin) Lenz of Algonquin, Susan (Terry) Poster of Madison and Dennis (Dawn) Baumann of Deerfield; seven grandchildren, David and Mark Baumann, Michael and David Lenz, Aaron and Alex Poster and Natalie Baumann; and four brothers, Edwin, Wilburt (Evelyn), Harley (Leona) and Gordon (Annemae). He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Brian Lenz. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 1996, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church 1700 Broadway in Sun Prairie with Reverend Dr. James Pingel officiating. Burial will be in Sun Prairie Memory Garden Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 1996, at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., in Sun Prairie. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church building fund. WSJ 5/18/1996
