Pershing- Foster W "Minnie Pearl" Flannery, 77, of Pershing Indiana, died at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond on Tuesday December 4, 2001, following an extended illness.
He was born December 6, 1923, in Gray Hawk, Kentucky, the son of the late Leonard Chester Flannery, Sr. and Emily P Wilson Flannery. Minnie Pearl lived most of his life in the Cambridge City Pershing area and was employed at MEG as a brake operator. He retired in 1985 with 30 years of service.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 169 of Cambridge City, the Civilian Conservation Corp and enjoyed fishing and Blue Grass music.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Freda Cowin Flannery, whom he married on March 24, 1951, in Lewisville Indiana; three sons, Carl Sr. of Pershing, Bradley and David, both of Cambridge City; four daughters, Brenda Dunaway of Cambridge City, Marilyn Flannery of Pershing, Marcella Flannery of Centerville and Mary Loyd of Dublin; three adopted grandchildren; eleven grandchildren; one sister, Martha June Gamache of Sarasota , Fl; three brothers, Lowell Earl Flannery of Milton, Leonard Chester Flannery, Jr. and Hosea Eldon Flannery, both of Bradenton, Fl; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, Rudolf and Zachery, an infant sister, Emma Joyce, and three brothers, Von H Flannery, Ronald and Garth.
Funeral services were Friday, December 7, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin with Rev. Bob Flannery officiating.
A graveside service was at the Flannery Cemetary in McKee, KY (Jackson County) on Dec 8th with Rev. Bob Flannery officiating.
