MRS. CAROLINE HILL Boardman - Last rights were conducted for Mrs. Caroline Phillips Hill of Boardman Tuesday, April 4, at the home. Burial followed in the Phillips Cemetery in Robeson County near Boardman. Services were conducted by Rev R. W. Strickland, assisted by Rev. Mr. Coates. Mrs Hill was 79 years old, born in Roberson Co., daughter of the late Everette Phillips and Clara Hedgepath Phillips. She was the widow of Moses Hill. She had been in declining health for several years, but her condition grew worse two weeks ago when she suffered a stroke. She was a member of the Boardman Baptist Church and was very active in church work all her life until a few years ago when her health would not permit her to attend. She is survived by one brother, Archie R. Phillips of Lumberton: 3 sons - John E., Onnie M. of Boardman, George A. of Mullins, SC: 2 daughters - Mrs S. E. Davis of Lumberton, Miss Gussie Hill of the home: also 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Pallbearers were Berry E. Parnell, E. Jack Smith, Dewey H. Bowen, H. Lloyd Inman, Harley Britt, N. Homer Nance. Flower girls: Mrs. B. E. Parnell, Mrs. George Tolar, Mildred Bowen, Myrtle Bowen, Margie Bowen, Doris Gibson, Adel Bullard. Also the following grandchildren served: Mrs. Edna McLaughlin, Nell Dean McLaughlin, Joyce Hill, Aliece Hill, Peggy Hill, Katy Davis, Gladys Davis. A special song, "Meet Me There" was rendered by Dewey H. Bowen and two daughters Mildred and Myrtle Bowen. Several selections were sung by a special Choir.
