George Cornett & Malissa Dillingham married Feb 12, 1888, Gilmer Co, GA; Bk 3, Pg 338

Prior to 2006, the Cornett and Dillingham graves in this cemetery were marked only with rocks and small hand-inscribed funeral home markers - from a funeral home in Calhoun, Gordon Co, GA. We now know the FHMs had been placed there by Pearl Cornett Bates to identify the graves of her family members. Sometime after the death of her husband, Mrs. Bates had moved to Calhoun where one or more of her children lived. After Mrs. Bates' daughter died & was buried at Underwood Cemetery in 2006, the FHMs (with one exception) were replaced with the current stones when a tombstone was erected for her daughter. The exception was the replacement stone for George A. Dillingham; that was done by his grand-daughter, Amy Miller Adair.
