Jeanne Virginia Hayes 86, Centralia, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Crestview Manor, Seneca, Kansas.

She was born January 17, 1925 at Downs, Kansas the daughter of Cecil Merideth Bell and Edith Saralin Walton Bell. She had attended business college for one year.

She married Louis Hayes in 1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was a member of the Seneca Golf Club, Seneca. She had attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Centralia since 1948. She and her husband Louis owned and operated the Hayes Funeral Home from 1943 until they sold the business to the Popkess family in 1986.

She is survived by her husband, Louis, Centralia; three sons, Mike Hayes, Oskaloosa, Jim Hayes, Topeka, and Kris Hayes, Moab, Utah; two grandson, Beau Hayes and Nick Hayes and one great-granddaughter, Lexi Jeanne Hayes.

She was preceded in death by a sister who died as an infant.

Funeral services will be Friday April 29th, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the First Congregational Church of Christ; Centralia, KS. The Rev. Scott Caulley will conduct the services. A visitation will be from noon to service time at the church on Friday. Mrs Hayes will lie in state at the Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home in Centralia all day Thursday. Casket bearers will be Mike Hayes, Jim Hayes, Kris Hayes, Nick Hayes Beau Hayes and Marty Mac Austin. Burial will be in the Centralia Cemetery.
