Frances G. Kutnink

Topeka – Former Emporian Mrs. Paul E. Kutnink, 94, of Topeka, died July 9, 1996, at a Topeka retirement home. Mrs. Kutnink was a resident of Emporia 29 years and also lived at Norton, Peru, Neb., Jacksonville, Fla., and San Diego, Calif., before she moved to Topeka. She was a Red Cross Gray Lady and a foster grandparent at the Kansas Neurological Institute.

Frances G. Works, the daughter of Robert L. and Lela L. Barr Works, was born March 23, 1902, at Humboldt. She graduated from Humboldt High School and attended the Sisters of Bethany College in Topeka and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.

She married Paul E. Kutnink on Oct. 18, 1924, at Humboldt. He died April 29, 1978.

Mrs. Kutnink was a member of the Central Congregational Church in Topeka. She also was a member of the Emporia State University Alumni Association, Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority at Emporia, PEO Chapter GJ, the Topeka Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Topeka Retired Officers Association Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Butterfield of Overbrook; three sisters, Roberta Lesh of Lawrence, Joyce Brooke of Haysville and Joan Buzzard of Grant Pass, Ore.; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A son, Paul R. "Bob" Kutnink, died March 14, 1987, and a granddaughter, Diann Butterfield, died Jan. 3, 1980.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Mount Hope Chapel at Topeka. Entombment will be in Mount Hope Mausoleum. The family will meet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Chapel.
