Amedee A. Gauthier Jr., 60, of 25 Norwood Rd., vice president of the Woonsocket Institution for Savings Bank, retiring this year after 32 years with the firm, died yesterday at Fogarty Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Mary (Mello) Gauthier.
Born in Blackstone, he was a son of Eva (Languirand) Gauthier of Woonsocket, and the late Amedee A. Gauthier Sr. He lived in North Smithfield 30 years.
Mr. Gauthier was a graduate of the former Hill Business College, Woonsocket, and the Graduate School of Savings Banking of Brown University in 1963. He had taken various graduate courses in accounting, bank administration and mortgage lending and was head of the mortgage department for 10 years. He served in the mortgage department for 27 years. He was a past treasurer of the American Red Cross, Woonsocket, a member of the Greater Woonsocket Chamber of Commerce, a corporator of Woonsocket Hospital, a corporator of the Visiting Nurse Service of Greater Woonsocket, a member of the R.I. Home Builders Association, the North Smithfield High School Building Committee, the VFW Post 6342, a past member of the Ambulance Association and a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of the Greater Woonsocket Real Estate Board. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II and served as an auditor.
Besides his wife and mother he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Diane Durand and Mrs. Doreen Ezovski, both of North Smithfield; a brother, Ernest Gauthier of Orlando, Fla., and a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Rock of Woonsocket.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Church Street, Slatersville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
