He retired as Chief Petty Officer with 25 years in U.S. Navy and a retiree from the U.S. Postal Services. Visitation from 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 6 at N. J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 7 at Brown Baptist Church in Southaven. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 9 in the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Widower of Cleo Flynn; three daughters, Nina M. Echols (Rodney), Yoland M. Gunn and Sheena L. Flynn all of Memphis; a son, Bobby Herod, Jr. (Linnie) of Atlanta, GA; five sisters, Charlene Conard, Shirley Cox (Willie), Marie Gilliespie, Faye Ingram (Ike) and Marcella Pilgrim all of Memphis; three brothers, Weldon Earl Flynn, Lavern Flynn and Stanford Flynn all of Memphis; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
